Last days in Belgium

These last few weeks have been busy and stressful. I had  9 exams in one week, been closing accounts, buying souvenirs and packing up.
This is my last blog for the 2 last months I've spent here.
This is the communion of Adrien. We had a big party with all the family and a big ice cream cake!

I made mock poutine for my family. (With white gravy from the USA)

Before I return home to Canada, I will be going with my host family to the montains in France for 5 days.
I've have a great year and experience with new family and new friends in a different country. I thank my host family for hosting me and taking me a lot of places and I thank everyone who helped me along the way to learn the language and to guide me in the right direction. I also want to thank my real family for supporting me during these last 10 months financially and emotionally. lol
I will miss Belgium and my new family and friends very much, but will enjoy returning home! Thanks alot and goodbye Belgium!!

I haven't written last week so this the 2 weeks in one...
On the 22nd Claire the YFU representitive of the area invited the other exchange students and I to her house so we could all bring a specialty of our countries to her house to try. So I had to find a Canadian recipe to make. I found a recipe for Canadian Butter tarts, which were a pain to make, but everyone loved them!( There is no chocolate, just that the brown sugar here is more darker)

My 8th month in Belgium...has it when fast!!

On the 27th we went to the King's greenhouse because it is only open to the public for a short period of time. Since Eric works as a royal guard for the King, we got in free. It was really pretty and there was a lot of flowers!

Papa smurf!!

We also went to Japan...;)

I stayed with the parents of Eric (my Belgian Bobonne). We went to the Seaside of Belgium by train and walked of the beach. Then Annie and I drove to Luxembourg and stayed with her sister for a night. Annie, Leslie and I then took a day trip to London with the Eurostar train. The ride would have taken about 2 hours but we had to wait an hour on the way there because a train broke down it the tunnel under the sea between France and the UK. On the way back we had to wait about 45mins for the train to arrive at the station. I went to Leuven also, which is where the original university of Belgium was, but they built one in Louvain-la-neuve (which means The new Leuven) for the french speaking Belgians because the university in Leuven is in Femish. I had a wonderful Spring Break and thank Eric's parents for their generosity, they are so nice! I did a lot of shopping and am NOT looking forward to school!!!
